Our window to avoid the worst impacts of #climatechange is closing. Mithun and leading firms are taking action to decarbonize the built environment. It's time for governments to step up. “Impacts of the climate crisis are already affecting vulnerable communities and ecosystems and the time to act is now,” says Hilary Noll, sustainability integration leader at Mithun. “We pledge to meet the 1.5°C carbon target by incorporating regenerative carbon strategies for all elements of the built environment. This reduction is technically within reach but requires a new era of collaborative design and carbon economics. Members of the building industry have stepped up to address climate—it’s time for governments to do their part to establish clear targets to further advance this work industry-wide.” Join us. At the heart of the graduate housing community is a welcoming public plaza, flanked by the retail pavilion (seen in previous image) and community center visible here. Behind, a warm wood façade highlights one of six pedestrian portals that invite residents into internal courtyards, provide connectivity between the buildings’ residential wings, and offer woodland vistas from the bridges above. When complete, the residential community will accommodate more than 600 students in apartment style homes ranging from studios to four-bedroom units, and diverse amenities indoors and out.
