Walking Mountains Science Center merges traditional mountain form with bioclimatic design to create a campus for hands-on environmental education. Building and landscape spaces serve to protect wetland habitat and connect users with the diverse site ecology. Outdoor classroom spaces play a key role in the education programming and reduce demand for additional building footprint. LEED Platinum certified. Designed in association with Zehren and Associates. đź“·: Dann Coffey

Louisiana Children's Museum received an Award of Merit at the 2020 AIA Seattle Honor Awards! “Connecting children and families to water in a positive and an educational way in this environment is really important,” shared the design jury. “The building is so beautifully executed… the spaces that are sculpted and crafted between indoors and outdoors really makes this a beautiful place and one that will be an important part of the community for a long time.” Thank you to AIA Seattle and distinguished jurors Marsha Maytum FAIA, Pascale Sablan AIA, and Tatiana Bilbao for a memorable evening celebrating design excellence. https://bit.ly/2IBoErh (clickable link in bio) 📷: @k7scott

Blakely Elementary School received an Award of Merit at the 2020 AIA Seattle Honor Awards! “I think the connections between the indoors and outdoors, and just the way the building is integrated into the site and the topography is a really brilliant solution. It’s going to be a loved school for many, many generations,” said design juror Marsha Maytum FAIA. “I really applaud both its little bit of whimsy that will be fun for the children, but also its rigor in which it addressed environmental and high-performance issues in the building.” Congratulations, @BainbridgeIslandSchoolDistrict and the entire design and construction team. 📷: @k7scott
