Advancing STEM Careers

Edmonds College Hazel Miller Hall

Lynnwood, WA

Integrated Center for STEM Education

Hazel Miller Hall collocates chemistry, physics, engineering, nursing and math programs to create an interdisciplinary academic center for STEM education that serves high demand occupations. The design organizes classrooms and offices around a central atrium to maximize space and building system efficiencies, and share resources across programs—maximizing value on a limited budget.

Career-ready, Critical Thinkers

Nursing simulation labs and active learning spaces engage students with each other and the instructor, developing collaboration skills and hands-on experience sought by employers. Study spaces arranged along the hallways bring students together as a community of learners.

Building for Long-term Performance

The building weaves multiple programs together with multipurpose classrooms to support spatial and pedagogical adaptability over time. Drought tolerant landscape and resource-conserving fixtures bring similar resilience to campus operations.
