Sparking Interdisciplinary Learning

Olympic College: College Instruction Center

Bremerton, WA

Campus Transformation

This new center transforms the Olympic College campus, redefining the main entry, completing the pedestrian spine and joining with the Library, Science and Tech, and Humanities buildings to form a central quadrangle. The design strengthens program visibility, fosters synergies between arts and health programs, and encourages student engagement.

Multidisciplinary Learning

At the building’s heart, a three-story atrium fosters interdisciplinary exchange and a shared sense of community. Layered gathering spaces accommodate classroom breakout, informal study and performance lobby functions. Specialized studio, simulation, practice and performance venues support student development in diverse fields. Active learning classrooms provide a flexible, technology-enabled instructional environment for shared lecture and distributed group projects.

Looking to the Future

The LEED Gold certified building anchors the north end of campus and is a reference point for wayfinding and future building development. Innovative mechanical and electrical systems, including 90% heat recovery and a 100kw solar array, contribute to the college’s sustainable campus operation.
