Advancing Tomorrow’s Workforce
Peninsula College Allied Health and Early Childhood Development Center
Port Angeles, WA
Investing in Community Health and Children
This new academic center advances the college’s health and early childhood education programs in response to the economic, health and childcare needs of the North Olympic Peninsula community. The design integrates state-of-the-art labs and applied learning environments with shared study space and a visible childcare center to support tomorrow’s workforce.
One Building, Two Programs
The design unites allied health and early childhood programs under one roof, and also acknowledges the unique functional and operational requirements of each program. Separate entries provide the health program with a strong connection to main campus and, on the opposite side, convenient parking adjacency, protected outdoor play space and enhanced security for the childcare center.
Natural and Cultural Connections
The development enhances on-site wetlands through restorative plantings and a raingarden for stormwater collection. Site circulation strengthens access to the House of Learning, an important cultural resource for the college and local Native American tribes.
