Inspired by iconic Sea Ranch architecture and the wind-swept landscape, this renovation removes decades of remodels that compromised the original structure and strengthens connections between spaces and the stunning views beyond. Honoring the building’s history, all new elements reflect the simple agricultural language and materiality of the original.
Improving Access and Comfort
Consolidating floor levels and removing walls between spaces yielded a simpler plan, enhancing accessibility and the experience of both guests and staff. Occupant comfort and building performance are improved with new mechanical systems, updated lighting, integrated sun shading and sound-absorptive materials.
Elevating an Iconic Experience
The Lodge experience was updated and expanded with a new café, integration of the solarium space into the lounge, and visual connection between the kitchen and dining room. Public areas are now oriented toward the lodge’s true amenity: a meadow rolling gently toward the Pacific Ocean.
