In a relatively short time period we’ve moved beyond making the argument that design and health are connected. Today, we see wide-scale adoption of health-promoting design and increasing focus on best practices as part of the development of equitable communities.
A recent article by Build Healthy Places in Crosswalk Magazine, “A Ride to Better Health,” chronicles the history of the movement, including Mithun’s work with Denver Housing Authority on the Mariposa Healthy Living Initiative and Master Plan.
“The Mariposa project is on the front lines of a rapidly growing movement seeking to reconnect low-income residents to the critical networks—transit, affordable housing, jobs—that are the cornerstones of opportunity,” writes author Natalie Orenstein.
