Brendan Connolly is this year’s recipient of the AIA Seattle Young Architect Award. This award recognizes individuals who have been licensed for fewer than ten years and have demonstrated exceptional leadership and significant contributions in their architectural career.

Mithun’s youngest partner, shareholder and board member, Brendan is a natural leader at the firm and within the community. He is currently serving as co-chair for the AIA Seattle Honor Awards program, and is a past member of the Yesler Terrace Citizen Review Committee. He maintains a strong connection with the University of Washington, where he is a member of the Professional Advisory Council, as well as a periodic juror, guest lecturer and instructor.

At the awards celebration on May 30, Brendan was lauded for “inspiring, award-winning work [that] has had such a powerful impact on those both in our community and in the communities around the country in which he works.”

Director of Mithun’s educational practice area, Brendan has led the design of multiple award-winning projects including the Sustainability Treehouse, The Northwest School, and Walking Mountains Science Center. He is currently leading a large multidisciplinary team on the complex and fast-paced UCSD Mesa Nueva Graduate Student and Professional Housing. Consistent across all of his projects is a commitment to sustainable design and thoughtful attention to the creation of connections between buildings and their natural context to create rich and meaningful places.
