The Sea Ranch Lodge renovation removed decades of remodels that compromised the historic structure, strengthening connections between spaces and the stunning coastal views beyond. Now open, the revitalized destination elevates an iconic experience while honoring the original design vision forged by Joe Esherick, Al Boeke, Lawrence Halperin and Barbara Stauffacher Solomon. At Perot Family Offices, the material palette of limestone, glass and wood extends out to a series of terraces and gardens for dining, collaboration and events. The garden terrace features simple plantings of thornless Mesquite trees and drought-tolerant native grasses along a Lueders limestone wall. Visible in the previous image is a custom water feature that emulates local Karst limestone geology and abstracts the flood regime of adjacent Turtle Creek by daily changes in velocity: a trickle in the morning, to a full spill over the water tables by noon and back to a seep by night. 📷: @brucedamonte
