Smart Urban Living

Brix demonstrates a high-density model for smart urban living by transforming the site of a defunct supermarket into a vibrant mixed-use development that appeals to a diverse market. Variation in the project’s façade solves a complex design challenge while using traditional materials, such as brick, to emulate the traditional, tree-lined context of the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Best of All Worlds

Ground-level retail and restaurants on Broadway invigorate the neighborhood’s lively pedestrian atmosphere. Above, modern one- and two-bedroom condominium homes face west over Broadway, while townhouses and lofts overlook the quieter residential neighborhood of 10th Avenue East. The two sides of the building are connected by an interior Anhalt-style courtyard with lush landscaping to create a garden sanctuary shared equally by residents.
