UC San Diego Nuevo West Graduate Student Housing features a welcoming plaza and gateway presence at the East Campus terminus of the Gilman Bridge, a vital connection for pedestrians and bikes to main campus. Bright color, light and transparency provide a clear signal of entry and activity to arriving residents. Slices of color also highlight the buildings’ staggered façade pattern that directs prevailing winds to cool the building with natural ventilation. LEED Gold certified. Design-build collaboration with Hensel Phelps. 📷: @brucedamonte
