This new home for Perot business enterprises is situated along an oxbow of Turtle Creek, and marks a return of the Perot family to the heart of downtown Dallas and its entrepreneurial origins. Concepts of deep roots and global reach inspire the campus design, which celebrates both legacy and innovation.

Finding the Center

The campus is organized around a central “intersection” space that emphasizes collaboration, stair culture and shared corporate values. This intersection reinforces visual connection to the landscape beyond, and physically links collaborative work spaces, central dining and interpretive exhibit space highlighting the life and legacy of Ross Perot Sr. and his family.

Connecting Community, Nature

The design reflects ambitious goals for health, sustainability and community connection, including direct access to a natural creek corridor and multi-use trail system for employee use. The high-performing building and landscape design supports energy and water conservation.

New Perot Campus Advances Health and Collaboration

Perots' new Dallas campus brings family business and history together on Turtle Creek

Visitors are greeted by a legacy Live Oak tree at the main entrance that was relocated and preserved to enhance the character and ecological function of the site.

The central stair draws visitors up through the tree canopy and enhances collaboration while uniting diverse business enterprises.

A prominent LED light installation by Studio 1Thousand acts as a beacon. The light changes as people traverse vertically up the stair, and the quality of light changes throughout the day based on the contrast to the daylight beyond.

The central gathering space contains places to meet and collaborate such as this ground-floor café and dining area. The native oak ceiling plane references the sheltering live oak canopies in the adjacent landscape courtyards.

The legacy corridor to the boardroom entry highlights the composition of key materials throughout the project including limestone, wood, glass and bronze.

Oak end grain flooring used in the boardroom pays homage to the ‘Texas spirit’ of materials. A custom walnut table and limestone fireplace add warmth, creating a welcoming environment for meetings and entertaining.

The surrounding canopy offers treehouse-like views throughout the workspace.

Glass-walled conference rooms and offices draw in daylight and borrow from the unique aspects of the site.

The interplay of limestone and glass is inspired by the native layers of stone that are strongly revealed under the adjacent flow of the creek.

At the arrival courtyard, two office wings are joined by the transparent “Intersection.” The space provides an indoor-outdoor connection and a flexible accommodation for meeting, dining and events.

The ground floor contains numerous legacy galleries highlighting the achievements and community contributions of the Perot family.

An exhibition and interpretive gallery contains artifacts and memorabilia from Ross Perot's technology and political careers, as well as an overview of the Hillwood and Perot companies and their connections to the local and global community.

The building is organized into slender plates to optimize daylight, clad with glass and limestone to reflect the geology and shimmering water of the adjacent Turtle Creek.

Two legacy trees previously on the site were harvested and repurposed as the reception desk that greets visitors in the main lobby.

The west and east wings of the project are connected through a central ‘Intersection’ space. Here, team members from diverse business groups can come together for meetings in shared conference space, or socialize at the micro-kitchens which bookend either side of the volume.

Mature trees and the building’s portico shade a dining terrace, while a series of gardens and lawns draw people to edges of the site to enjoy the natural beauty of the creek.

A new public plaza space on the Katy Trail is a gift to the community that also serves as a bridge for employees to the building and campus.
